If you are outside South Africa, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of the late musician Miriam Makeba. They also called her Mama Africa.
Hours ago, I remembered this song of hers, ‘A Luta Continua’. The phrase ‘a luta continua’ means the struggle continues.
This is more like a call not to be complacent.
Having talked about music, let’s get political. These past few weeks, South African voters chose new leaders. There was no big winner as the ruling party, the African National Congress, lost its majority. The result being that there’s now a government of national unity. Many people see this type of government as taking us (Africans, or South Africans) back to the days of oppression since this type of government includes the Democratic Alliance, a white party, if you will.
Of course politics is a drab affair – drab but essential. India also had elections, I hear. The ruling party also got whipped. In England, Rishi Sunak will go against Sir Keir Starmer.
In the US, Biden will go against Trump.
Right. Enough politics. The struggle continues for the hustler, for the musician… everybody.
Now, since I’m back, it’s awesome to hear from you, musos. Hello Queensland, Australia.
L’andre has a new song called ‘Bands’. It’s a bit loud, and it sounds more like trap to me. But I like the cover art: it’s an image of money. Who doesn’t love money!?
Mr Scenery says that he’ll be releasing two new songs on his birthday this weekend. Congrats to him and happy birthday to the dude. I think I reviewed his music two years back. Having said that, I still review music guys. If you want to support the platform, please do ask for a paid music review.
Congratulations also to Amanda Emblem. Her bragging rights are that she released a vinyl album. That’s great, eyo!
As for Amanda, she has a band called The Amanda Emblem Experiment. I reviewed their album a few years back. Right now I'm playing ‘Coconut Rum’, a song I love so much!
Thanks so much!
Can’t resist sharing some further info
