Manager Corey King Speaks On Behalf Of Musician Lucius Echo
Corey King talks about his musical wishes and speaks about what his musician, Lucius Echo, stands for.
This interview will sound a bit weird, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, you’ll appreciate what’s at play here.
Corey King speaks on behalf of Lucius Echo, a musician he manages, a musician he describes as ‘an imaginative songwriter who conveys deep emotion, passion and authenticity in every song he has created’.
King believes that good music is authentic – music that ‘come from the solu in some shape or form’.
Music management for King involves having to work on dates on where to release new music. ‘We have 20+ songs completed songs set to be released,’ he says in the interview.
Music management also means having to promote music, a process that’s often difficult to master. Having experimented with Indie Amplify, King also touches on how musicians have to deal with ‘spam emails and fake promotions’.
This is the interview – enjoy!

L. SOJINI (L.S): Can you tell us about yourself? Where you’re from and what kind of musician you are.
Corey King (CK): My name is Corey King and I am the founder of Lucius Echo Music along with being Lucius Echo’s publicist and manager.
To introduce him to your readers, he grew up between Newburgh, IN, Henderson, KY and Louisville, KY.
He is an imaginative songwriter who conveys deep emotion, passion and authenticity in every song he has created.
He plays the piano and has one released instrumental titled ‘Memento Mori’.
L.S: How did you get into music?
CK: He grew up around music and found it to be his place of escape during his early teenage years.
After being diagnosed with T1D at age 12 and experiencing deep mental health battles during his adolescence, music is where he turned to scream, cry, love, fight, feel and medicate.
LS: What do you think makes good music?
CK: That’s not a simple question and I’ll answer this from my perspective. Good music must be authentic and come from the soul in some shape or form. Good music is genre-less and timeless at the same time.
L.S: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a musician?
CK: His strengths are many but, like many true artists, he doesn’t like talking about them too often 😊.
He is a tremendous lyricist, poet and passionate performer. I can’t think of one song that lacks passion that cannot be felt even if the subject matter is hard to think about.
His weaknesses as a musician are minimal and stem from lack of exposure to instruments, other talent or simply inexperience.
He is a unique, interesting musician and artist.
L.S: What are you currently working on?
CK: We have 20+ completed songs that are either set to be released or I am working on the release dates.
My role is to schedule releases in a way to help him/us gain exposure and help new listeners understand his diversity.
Earlier this year, we released ‘Bonds, Naught and Tadow’ which all had a similar tone, vibe and flow. The cover art was similar as well on purpose.
These songs differ significantly from other songs of his like ‘Fracture’, ‘The Pot’ and an unreleased song titled ‘Insane’. Lucius works on what comes to him when it comes to him which I find beautifully pure from an artistic way.
L.S: How do you approach music? As in, what’s your philosophy when it comes to making music?
CK: My interpretation of this is that he feels music is the most intimate form of creation and expression so his approach to each song is based on that. He’s been asked this in other interviews and I believe that is an honest conveyance of his belief.
L.S: What are you most proud of to have achieved as a musician?
CK: No one has ever controlled what he creates and he and he alone has controlled sharing his art with others. I am most proud of that from my perspective managing him.
L.S: How do you promote your music?
CK: I use Indie Amplify some but still feel like I don’t know the best ways to promote our music. There are so many spam emails and fake promotions that, one day, I hope I find the right combination of grass roots and help from others. We are members of IMBd which I hope to find screenwriters and filmmakers to give our music a listen/use – it’s perfect for theater, movie scenes and the like.
L.S: Favourite musician? Why?
CK: Some of his favorites are K.A.A.N, Hopsin, Heilung, Beartooth, Frank Sinatra, XXXtentacion, OmenXiii, Thrice, Glass Animals and the Architects. His appreciation for each of them differ but all are some of his favorites. K.A.A.N (Knowledge above all Nonsense) is exceptional in lyrics and, if you listen to his song ‘Stress’, you will understand what I mean.
L.S: What’s your advice or message to fellow musicians?
CK: His words are ‘My only hope is that you grow to develop a better understanding of yourself and the reality you glide, stride, or trudge through, and find or continue to discover a deep and personal relationship with who you are as an individual and either gather or retain the capacity to accept yourself for who you are. At the same time, never forget that you have a place in this world and figure out the best way to interact with it for you. Above all I wish you peace, love, and understanding’.
L.S: Can you recommend one musician you’ve worked with that The Musician can interview next? You can share their Twitter handle.
CK: We have never worked with this musician per se but we got to know him well during the COVID lockdowns. His name is Kode Break and Twitter handle is @DJKodeBreak. He started a Twitch channel called Lessthan1k plays that was dedicated to helping independent artists get feedback on improved production, music creation and many other ways. I found his (and his guests and listeners) insights very authentic, honest and helpful. He loves music and is a gifted EDM DJ among other things.
L.S: Thank you for talking to The Musician. Remember this is your home. Whenever you have something new to share, hit us up anytime. You can even drop your links here.
CK: Here are some of our links and appreciate this opportunity. I manage all the social media and public accounts for Lucius Echo…
