It's Heartbreak all over Again
Mr. Scenery has a new song. You'll love it, especially if you're sad
This is a nice song to listen to when you are feeling the heaviness of life, but it’s a love song. It’s called ‘Break Me Down’ and is a song by Mr. Scenery featuring John Lark and 48Tay.
The song starts with a chorus with the following words sung softly 48Tay:
I open my heart
Let you in my mind
I gave you part of me
I brought you to my life
You still set me down
Upset, you make me frown…
Then the softness goes away when we are introduced to the following rap by John Lark ( which as you listen to it, you are reminded of Busta Rhymes):
You’re lovely
It felt so good when you touched me
But John Lark is a difficult rapper to pin down: his flow, if you can call it that, is unstoppable in that you really have to be paying attention to catch his words.
John Lark’s voice is so deep that it almost drowns the beat, but not really in a bad way.
When the rap ends (for it never comes back), we are reintroduced to the chorus that started the song, but this time the singing is louder.
I open my heart
Let you in my mind
I gave you part of me
I brought you to my life
You still set me down
Upset, you make me frown…
Repetitiously so, the chorus comes now and again.
The singer doesn’t know why he continues loving this lover when all they do is break their heart.
You still break me down
You still break me down
You still break me down
It’s a beautifully written sung heartbreak song. At one point the rapper during his single verse talks about healing.
So while the rap, or voice, is deep, on the other hand we have the chirpy Mr. Scenery and 48Tay. So, you can say the contrasting voices make the song something you can love for different reasons.
If Mr. Scenery has beautiful music, this is one of those songs. Listen to it when you’re brooding.
My gripe with the song is that one can't tell the difference between 48Tay and Mr. Scenery's voices.
The song was released on the 16th of June. And there are instrumental and accapella versions. This is the second time I’m reviewing Mr. Scener’y music. I first reviewed his album (Acend) in August, and as I go through that review again, I realize that he has always been interested in love relationships.
